We are delighted to introduce our specially designed project bag panel to accompany the Eliza Martin 1874 – 56-Week BAP Challenge, beginning on 1 January 2027.

With 56 weeks of stitching ahead of us, we thought it would be lovely to have a project bag created especially for Eliza, somewhere to keep our linen, silks and charts together as we follow in her footsteps.

The design features repeated portrait cameos of Eliza, framed in antique gold and surrounded by delicate botanical sprigs and butterflies. The soft palette of sage and olive greens, warm cream and muted gold has been chosen to give the fabric a gentle Victorian feel.

Across the top of the front panel are the words:

What her hands began, our hearts remember.

The coordinating lining fabric features rows of flowing, handwritten-style script in soft olive green against a warm cream background. It is a quiet reference to the penmanship and lettering that form such an important part of Eliza’s sampler.

The finished bag will be a lovely keepsake of the Challenge, something to use throughout our 56 weeks together and long after the final stitch has been worked.

What Is Included

Each printed fabric panel contains all the fabric required to make one project bag. There is no need to measure out the individual pieces – simply cut out the printed panels and assemble.

The panel includes:

• Main front panel featuring Eliza’s portrait cameos and the commemorative quotation
• Coordinating outer fabric
• Three lining panels featuring the handwritten-style script

• 2½-inch binding strip for finishing the bag
• Additional coordinating fabric for handles, should you wish to add them

Finished project bag using a ¼-inch seam allowance and the seam-and-turn method: 13.5 × 13 inches
