This shade card has been produced by Au Ver à Soie using real strands of their Soie 100.3 silk, allowing you to see the true colours and lustre of the threads.

The card provides an accurate reference for selecting shades across three of their silk ranges:

• Soie 100.3
• Soie Perlée
• Soie Surfine

When we reproduce a historic sampler, the colours are carefully matched to the original sampler itself, rather than converted from another modern thread range. Each thread palette is chosen independently so that the character and balance of the antique needlework are preserved.

For needleworkers working from charts, however, the original sampler is not present. When converting colours from threads such as DMC or Soie d’Alger into Soie 100.3, the process becomes one of visual comparison.

A shade card makes this process much easier. Seeing the colours together allows you to compare shades confidently, plan substitutions, and create harmonious palettes for your stitching projects.

Because the samples on the card are made from genuine Soie 100.3 silk, the colours provide a reliable guide when selecting threads.
